As everyone will know - the police are bored and drivers are easy targets for them... especially young lads / lasses that go to cruises. They really do have nothing better to do than to try create problems for us.

Have a look at this and have a look at some of the things they check for. If your car is clearly illegal then it might be best if you don't come or scarper as soon as they turn up.
    ---------------------------------------------------------

1st thing to know is the difference between the 4 types of 'police':

    The Pussys:

    Avoid the 50 (Police) 5010

Marked Astra's - these are police that should be dealing with burglars, theives, muggers and rapists. Most are probably all of 25 years old and have been bullied at school and enjoy the 'power' of arresting people.

They have little 'traffic' powers and don't normally know what they are talking about. If they find something wrong with your car - they don't normally have the equipment to get proper evidence that would be used in court and therefore the worst you get is a summons based on their personal judgement. They do sometimes call traffic if they realise they are too basic for the job.

Be aware that some are working to try get a promotion to traffic and will be out to make a point. Also some traffic get astras to drive for the night.

    Avoid the 50 (Police) Hm10

Unmarked Astra's (or Corsa's) - these are almost the same as marked astra's. They should be dealing with prostitutes, would-be burglars, theives, muggers and rapists.

Same as above, be aware some traffic get these astras to drive for the night. Normally specialised in something these arnt normally out to prove a point, but if they are out on a money making night, they will stop you.
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    The Police (Traffic):

    Avoid the 50 (Police) Dfs10

Marked Volvo's, Vectra's etc - these are the police in our eyes. Give them respect and they are sometimes OK with you. They havent got a point to prove but they have the equipment to get proper evidence that would be used in court. If they are out to make money, or are in a bad mood they will try to find anything, and I mean anything to give you a ticket.

    Avoid the 50 (Police) Dtr10

Unmarked Volvo's, Vectra's etc - Same as above - but normally with a worse attitude cos they think they are undercover and have special all-knowing god powers.
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    > How to spot unmarked pussys + police:

    1) Look at the number plate - in Yorkshire they are normally, but not always

    ' Y J x x x x x ' or
    ' Y K x x x x x ' plates.

    Any Vauxhall or Volvo from 2004 becarefull of (ie number plates beginning with: YJ04, YK04, YJ54, YK54, YJ05, YK05, YJ55, YK55, YJ06, YK06, YJ56, YK56, YJ07, YK07, YJ57, YK57, YJ08, YK08, YJ58, YK58, YJ09, YK09)
Heres a list from the old forum that have been spotted as police, but there are loads of them out there:

Silver Vectra 3.2 SRi Estate - YJ55 MRO

    Avoid the 50 (Police) Setgr10

    Dark Blue Vectra 3.2 Sri Estate - YJ55 ???
    Dark Blue Astra Club 5 dr - YJ55 ???
    White Vectra - YJ04 XAT
    White Vectra - YJ54 HUA
White Vectra with about 8 aerials (new shape) - YJ06 FKV
White Vectra (new shape) - YJ04 XAP
Red Astra pussy (New shape) - YJ55 UNF
Silver Volvo Reg - YJ55 UMW
White Vectra Estate - YK55 CGF
    White Astra - YJ06 TCQ
Dark Blue Vectra VXR - YJ57 NNT

    2) They normally have one, small shtubby GPS airwave ariel on - not the normal 4 tracker ones you see on marked traffic. Dont think its not police cos it doesnt have 4 ariels - they keep them in the boot in the odd chance they get really bored and decide to catch a car thief.

    3) LED lights in the grille, bumpers, or in the bottom on the windscreen.

    4) Cameras in the top of windscreen and in back window (traffic)

    5) No silly Tesco tax disk holders or Greenflag breakdown stickers in the window and plain number plates (no GB blue bit or logos)

    6) Two silly twats in the passenger and drivers seat, wearing a black and white uniform with a ticket book in their hands.

    > What to say:

Whatever they think, the pussys + the police (traffic) are NOT the law. They are not above the law and are only there to enforce it. Most of what they say is incorrect and wont hold up in court as evidence. Listen to what they say and RECORD it on your phone. Whatever they say - it is legal to record in a public place and they CAN NOT take your phone off you or ask you to turn it off unless you are arrested.

For example: A pussy stops you for 'speeding' in a 30 limit. When they stop you and ask you to sit in the back they will say 'how fast were you doing'. Say 30 miles an hour. They will go on how long they have been a copper.. how clever they are.. tell you not to talk shit etc etc, how fast were you really doing. This is to try get evidence against your 'crime'. Say 30 miles an hour. You'll then probably be cautioned: "You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you fail to mention when questioned something which you may rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence." Say you were doing 30 miles an hour. Let them give that as evidence - then leave it at that. If CPS take it to court, which they wont - there is no evidence, so no fine. Same with any 'offence' on your car. If its a pussy, just say your car is legal. Their word agaist yours is not enough. If you get stopped by traffic and your car is illegal, its normally a bad news cos they normally know what they are doing and gather proper evidence against you. Still take it to court and put the bastard to some trouble writing out a statement.

    > What they look for:

Anything. They will look for any of these things and try to work on it to give you a fine. As above, never accept a fixed penatly, take it to court - they probably wont have got any real evidence, especially if its a pussy.

    Insurance
    Tax
    M.O.T
    Tyres (tread)
    Drugs (they look everywhere)
Offensive Weapons (work tools, spanners etc)
Going Equipped (work tools, jerry cans, screw drivers etc)
Lights (especially silly ones like number plate lights)
'Dangerous Parts' (bumpers not fully screwed on, loose batteries etc)
    Exhausts ('loud')
Wheels (hanging out beyond the wheel arch)
Engine Size (check the size with the CC on the tax - a 2.0 redtop in a 1.0 litre taxed corsa)
    Seatbelts
Tinted Windows (front 2 cant block around 0.0001% of sunlight)
Screen Wash (if you dont have any its 30 quid fineable)
Number Plates (properly spaced, official logos, place of manufacture)

    > Section 59:

Been a young driver you will have probably been given the section 59 power spool before. Basically it is another thing the police abuse to give you a £105 fine.

Read this: Section 59 Legal Crap and make sure you understand it. Untill a rich kid and their rich parents stand up and take it to trial the police will always abuse this, as it gives them the law to make a judgement (... "where he has reasonable grounds for believing that...") and part (5) (d) stops the police from using this as it was meant to be. Bollocks I know.

    > Don't scarper:

When they turn up, dont just all drive off (unless your car is illegal), sometimes they are sound with us and say go to....... where they wont be 'complaints' (ie out of their division)
    ---------------------------------------------------------

Thats about it, remember don't do anything that will attract them to you to get a fine. Secondly remember that they are definately not the law. Not even close. Don't say anything that may get you into trouble. Take all fixed penalties to court. You might get let off anyway.
